Most obvious mod to an ADA8000 - 25-pin D connectors

I am looking at the best way of doing the metalwork - DB25s are handy but are buggers to mount.  It's a pretty poor design all round as 25-pin cables tend to be heavy & to drag on the connector.  I suppose that's why EDACs and DLs were invented

I use a template and dremel.

If you want a template you can find it in front panel designer  (frontdesign) as one of the standard macro's.  Stick it to the back, trace, drill the 2 holes and dremel the rest.  Takes 30 minutes for each connector.  Makes lots of dust.
 
You can always use some of the round multipole mil connectors. They are more durable and easier to create panels for (and easier to terminate). They cost more though, but are usually available from component suppliers like Mouser and Farnell.
