Multiple SDC capsules for lower noise.

Anyone ever experimented with lowering the noise of otherwise good SDC capsules by doubling, or even tripling them up, as was done in these now-discontinued Line Audio mics?

Interesting idea.
The audio signals will be correlated, but the noise will be uncorrelated.
This would theoretically mean: 2 capsules reduce the noise by 3 dB.
You would need four capsules to reduce the noise by 6 dB.
But unfortunately practice isn't always the same as theory...
It might be worth an experiment.

In a way, that's what AudioTechnica did with AT5040. I believe Line Audio uses capsules with built-in FET so i guess it doesn't count. Overdo it, and you might get THD issues.

Yes, so actually paralleling 2-3 FETs, rather than capsules.
