A friend uses some lovetone effects in his rig. I have replaced a number of lorlin switches in the lovetone boxes. They are not on the floor but on a stand and worked by hand. He uses two big effect boards one on the floor and one on a stand.

Lorlin switches are fine budget work-horses when compared to some of the class switches like Elma and Gold Point.
It's your DIY so you can chose the budget for each project.
A green with Lorlins can make sense.
So too a basic G9.
BUT
if you want to go nuts with a G9 and assemble the front panel point to point with nothing but the best and ceramic tube sockets etc ... go for it.
