Like I told before,
You don't even know what the problem with the microphone is
Umm, you dont know what the problem is either, but you made random suggestions. Others have pointed out what Neumann do for their own commercial reasons. And working on capacitor microphones is no job for amatuers.

Only random thing here is really your neurons.
My only suggestion was that more info was needed from the OP, nothing more

But my post was from 2020
You are so ridiculous in your goal to personally attack me everywhere that you don't mind Necroposting a thread from 2020 which the OP didn't show any interest whatsoever in the last 4 years

two years later i wanted to vindicate the OP. I took mine apart and saw very little wrong, except that the big capacitor(?) that held the metal tad that touches the capsule was tilted. Apparently mine was not making good contact. I bent it to put the metal contact point back to center to make good contact and it fixed it!

Repairs would've been $400+ I bet. Never be scared to take something apart! The naysayers are ridiculous. Too much fear in these people.
Interesing, This may be a common problem. I just purchased a dead one for parts (at AU$350). After opening it up the components hidden in the black plastic that holds the capsule tab was bent at an angle. Straightening it up gave me a working mic.

That said, any tips for troubleshooting or should I just wait until it stops doing the actual microphoning part and then worry about it?

Replace the 2 Electrolytic capacitors, it’s easy and cheap.
The mic will be better or even fixed, or will stay the same, but will never get worse.

Lytic capacitors are the most common component to fail in electronics
