Thanks for the props!
It's a blast to take apart something as unique as this Tele iron. Everything from the lams to the coils are werid. Very smooth B-H and great magnetic waveform compared to other iron I have seen. However that translates...

On to the Langevin AM-16 T-324-A output x-former.

Here is the schematic:

Here are some statics-

Pri:
Red/Yel-Ppl: 31.781 ohms-B-K Precision 875-B: 494 mH-Sencore LC-53: 356 mH Gen-Rad 1650-B: 295 mH

Wh-Blk/Wh : 30.799 ohms B-K: 496 mH Sencore: 354 mH Gen-Rad: 295 mH

Gray-Red: 31.165 Ohms B-K: 499 mH Sencore: 364 mH Gen-Rad: 295 mH

Grn/Wh-Red/Wh: 30.544 Ohms B-K: 498 mH Sencore: 363 mH Gen-Rad: 295 mH

Sec:

Org-Blk: 55.431 Ohms B-K- 2.06 H Sencore- 1430 mH Gen-Rad- 1240 mH

Yel-Blu: 54.396 Ohms B-K- 2.06 H Sencore- 1430 mH DGen-Rad- 1240 mH

It will be interesting to see how this matcches up with the previous samples I lsent to Brian Sowter.

Here is the freq plot. Res at about 39 k cps, so I know we are not dealing with bi-filar windings as I previous thought. Another bass bumper. No wonder why people like the AM-16 for the kick drum:

Here is the phase angle:

Here is the newest spec, current draw vs freq. This guy chomps up some ma to make bass. I guess the output transistors can handle it. The Tele input I tested was in the micro-amps. This guy chews up milli-amps. Plus it takes a dc bias. This has me thinkin big 49% Ni core, gapped, non bi-filar, E-I.
Will be fun to see how close I am. (Yes, this guy is coming apart!)

Holy crap. I'm dead meat. Remember those silver primaries I was holding?

Check this:

"Hello Chris,

be very careful with touching that stuff, it is a mercury silver alloy, if
you get it on your skin you might run danger to get overexposed to it.
The stuff was made by Degusa in germany and taken out of commercial
application in 1970.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling that stuff.

On winding those strange coils:

"but a specialty machine is
needed to wind those coils. To my knowledge I have the only one left, I also
build a modern computer controlled replica...
Re: Mother of Pearl....... could this be some type of Mica coating?
It sherardizing - zinc to stop the laminations rusting

Thanks for clarifying re: zinc

Silver/mercury......holy shit! How did it taste?

Re: winder.... I figure you'd need a stepper motor, speed controller, couple of proximity switches and a PLC. (Other than the mechanical device). Then you could program to keep the windings going in the same direction.

Actually, you wouldn't need the proximity switches. I'd figure on flyback windings though. A really smart person could probably hack an old computer printer and get suitable components for nix..... guides, motors, belts etc

Every winding is bi-filar on the output.
So this would be a real tough one for DIY'ing.
I hear the Sowter versions sound real good. I will pick up a few next paycheck from Prodigy and do an A/B test.
Stay tuned.

They make winders to do anything for the current Xformer vendors.
When someone tells me that I think they are giving
me a load of you know what!

The computerized winders can be programmed to do anything
including make coffee.

Can you spot the vent holes? Yes or No?

Sweat and toil to get at this coil:

Nice tidy bi filar outer winding. All the windings on the output x-former are wound this way. Primaries and secondaries.

Warm it up before you rip it apart.
Ten pitch Acme lead screw-highly polished- for the traverse mechanism. But where can I get one?
I think coyote used the last Acme screw on road runner
