New to DIY, looking for a basic synth project

Hello Prodigy Pro Forum!  I'm new to the DIY project world but am not sure where to start. I was thinking of trying to do the GSSL 4000 Buss compressor project, but I don't think I'm ready for that large of an investment and would rather try something simpler. I am interested in a beep/bloop/drone type synthesizer project, which I think I would feel comfortable with. If anyone would be willing to recommend or share any designs it would be very much appreciated as I'm looking forward to jumping into the pool that is DIY
