have any one got any experience with either of those machines? I'm thinking of getting a winder to start winding some transformers but so far I could only find manual ones and those which are affordable. would the Mojo Tone Winder be suitable to fit transformer bobbins?

I was hunting manual winders too.  Seems like part of the trouble is finding the pieces to fit the bobbin. Prices are crazy.. these things shouldn't cost that much. CJ has DIY'd one.

Someone in here should hack one of these coil winders and create a kit. Yep it just counts turns on a little electric motor.  I tried to get a friend to make one in his metal shop for me but he seemed to lose interest in making it.

He does a pretty god job with that small manual winder, I guess it's not very precise because you hand regulate the tension and the winding path but for prototyping and experimenting it might be quite good.

I found those for £40 on eBay so I might have a shot
