What's your opinion on the 6DZ7?
2 - 6BQ5's in a single envelope.

Don't know it; your experience?

hey butter, you are a man of my heart, don't you just love those turrets for wiring?

this is kind of scary, but hey, its only a heater supply,

"just do it!" grab and build high current rectn stack from 1n4001's,

we need more rosin,  :D

this is a nice compromise between the ham radio guitar amp job up at the top of this thread, and the hp mess i kludged up,

this is the Western Electric 121a preamp with the 618b and 197a xfmr's:

Whoa... is that a giant amp prototyping board with some kind of built-in variac?
Yes it is.  In addition to the variac, it has built in 6.3 & 12.6 VAC transformers too so I can leave the filaments up when swapping out partz.

I've just started messing with 6DZ7's.  Kind of a unicorn tube.  Too cool not to build something with.  If you got them, smoke them.

>this is the Western Electric 121a preamp
so it is

>how does that we sound?

In all honesty, It hasn't been turned on in a few years.  I found out what they're worth and weighed that against my crapmanship and knowledge.  Decided to put them safely away, out of the reach of children such as myself.
