Hello guys, I could’t find any thread about it so I thought I’ll create a new one... there is anybody in here really good in finding obsolete components? Or even equivalent? I have a couple of thing that didn’t show up in any research I did, so is start to be annoying and complicated. Thanks

when using components in production vendors usually give us a warning when components approach EOL (end of life) so we can make last time buys.

I got a warning just last week about an electrolytic cap going EOL...

If you post the particular parts you're looking for we can try searching for a source or an equivalent.

Do the replacements need to have same package/footprint as previous parts, or is a different package OK?

Those are the 3 components I'm looking for. Then I will need the thread to fix this reverb also.
So I guess the 2 transistors are Texas instument, but I can't find anything about those.

The chip is JRC's version of the NE5532, the NJM5532, and that's a D at the end, not a zero, so NJM5532D.

Since the op-amp is socketed, you should check to see whether the problem is with the chip or the socket. Lifting and then re-seating the chip in the socket is sometimes enough to clear enough corrosion off the pins if it exists to renew the connection.

If the amp is indeed bad, you will have no trouble at all finding an NE5532 replacement. It's probably the most common audio amp on the planet. Lots of equivalent parts.

Are you sure the transistors are bad? Did you measure and test them out of the circuit?

For transistor replacements you can try also BC550 (NPN) and BC560 (PNP) which are general purpose transistors that work well in a lot of different circuits.
But I will make sure I will test the transistors in question before replacing them

Walrus is correct that the transistors are TIS-9x, not TI5-9x. TIS-92 is an NPN Si BJT that is equivalent to the venerable 2N4401. TIS93 is its PNP complement, equivalent to 2N4403. Common Euro equivalents would have been BC337 and BC327, respectively. Modern replacements that you could still easily find would be in the BC55x family (probably BC556 for TIS93, maybe BC557 for TIS92). Compare the datasheets, which I didn't do.

I am sure we have the IC's - I will run upstairs and check the active component area for the transistors once my biz partner returns from the studio - all the active, and passive stuff is stored in his work area. I am stuck with connectors, transformers, modules, hardware, wire, and such on my floor as all the mechanical work for racking and the CNC are down here. Anywho - he should be back within the hour.

5532 is available everywhere, the op will not have any problem in get that IC
Yup, as I said I am sure we have them, as will many people... But I was just speaking for ourselves in response to the original poster, that we may have all of it (original transistors and all - or era correct replacements if that is a concern). 5532's can be had new or vintage Signetics etc. lots out there. I am not sure what help your post was.

Thanks guy for all the insight here... Seems like I found what I needed.
I never said those components are not working, I'm just trying to reproduce this machine and as I was looking to buy the components I run into some trouble finding them.
There is a last one that apparently is obsolete since forever. I can find it here and there, but I would like to be able to replace it with something more reachable and not impossible to find.
Is a Vactol Photocell/LDR, see pic. Somebody here know if there are substitutes alive now day of this component? this is an hard one :D

Btw. these Xvive couplers are not identical replacements for the Vactec couplers (as the name implies), they have a little different response (mainly on/off time), if that is important for your application.
The Vactecs becoming real unobtainium quickly, another way to model behaviours of the looked after vtl5C1/2/3 is to diy them from suitable LDRs and LEDs. You could search the MODWIGGLER diy forum for actual parts numbers used for that...

Yes is true, the part I need is a VTL5C1 and is for a limiter LED part... I would check the DIY forum because I guess is gonna be easier then find the part. Thanks✌🏼
