I remember when DJs had to be real DJs and match the different songs tempo by ear. Nowadays Paris Hilton is a DJ, that tells you a lot about the complexity of the trade...

Man, I mixed a lot of reggae shows on Soundcraft 8000 desks back in the days. That´s a serious reggae desk. I used to carry a TC2290, Lexicon Jamman and PCM70 with me, just to be sure that there are enough delays around.
