Yes. The motor is the magnet, so the piece where the diaphragm is mounted.Thanks for describing your technique! I was wondering what the "motor" is? is it the term for what is under the diaphragm? Many thanks.
You also asked for foam: I live in Europe, so I don‘t know where you could get some perfect foam that is up to specs with the original one. I also don‘t care too much and always use something very light and airy, so I get the maximum high end response out of a mic, even if its not 100% original. So I use this:

For dxample: in a 545 I use two layers of it. Probably gets close to only one layer of the original foam…
