I’ve checked the reel control card and all measurements are correct on voltmeter according to Manuel. Every time I thread tape and hit stop the right swing arm goes completely to the bottom and doesn’t stop in the middle of its path caUsing the tape to rewind and unload. Spring tension has been checked and is of proper measurement. What could the problem be?

Something on the reel motor drive. The takeup motor is getting no power

Maybe the brake on the take up motor isn't working.

Can the machine do the following
1.rewind
2.fast forward
3. Play tape
4.stop
If it does those, this leads me down a different path than thinking it’s the motors. But it wouldn’t hurt to test the power transistors for the motors.
Last time I had an issue with our mtr90 the power transistors failed and the machine would take off like a rocket the moment power was applied. Stop didn’t work the take up motor would spin as fast as it could. Once I replaced those transistors. All was good again.
