Hi,

I have two PM1000 Master modules that I am converting to mic pres. My plan is to use the Monitor Amp section as the 1st stage and the main line amp as the 2nd stage. So wiring a input xfrmr to C15 then taking the output at c20 and connecting it to the level control R9 and then on through line amp, ouput xfrmr and out.

I'm curious about adding an actual gain control to the 1st stage of the amp, by replacing trimmer R40 with a 75k log pot. This is where the gain control is in the input module, but that control also simultaneously controls resistors at the input and between the 1st and 2nd stages.

Has any one tried this before? Thoughts on if it will work right? Schems attached

Sam

Your plan looks perfectly doable to me. 75k pot isn't standard value. Just use 4k7 resistor and 100krevlog pot in series instead.
