Totally cool, DAve!
I calculate 1/2 an amp in would give you 26 ma plate supply.
Plenty for a preamp,no!
Filaments would be about 300 ma for 4 stages.
:guinness:
Does anybody have that link for the guitar amp made with low voltage tubes?
The one I was gonna use a car radio for the head. I still wanna do that.

Its nice that is a toroidal, but It drives me nuts to have to use a wall wart or make room for a second transformer. For 1 or 2 tube type preamps I am fairly well sold on Bottleheads PT-1, abit more expensive at $40, but it it is top notch in quality.

never thought about it for a car amp power supply, that would work out quite nice, if you have not seen it, here is a nice page on a car tube stereo

Thanks Adam!
Thats Way too cool!
I could see cruising down main street at night with the top down in a 53 T Bird, and the rumble seat packed with tube stereo and speakers!

I still need to try one of these things...I wonder how the preamp tube 12u7 would work for a mic preamp.....hrmmm..

Battery? Are you drunk again CJ :green: Unless you like switching polarity some fitty times a sceond, it ain't gonna work. You need Ac ol' chap

I may be overlooked something quite obvious here, but isn't that just a standard 230V/10V power trannie, huh?

You could use anything really, and since you cannot not avoid making a CR PSU in such a small box just adjust the resistor to get the right B+. Same thing with the heater, you could use a small series resistor if it's too high. If it's too low, the trannie is underspecced or have very poor regualtion.

That said, I've probably overlooked the obvious :?
