Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any more wisdom on this.  Recently pulled all the Furman rackmounted power bars in our 8 bays (14-16 rack spaces in each) so that I could free up those extra top spaces and fit more gear in - also, never used the lights in them, so kind of useless.

However, now I'm looking for some sort of power strip that will suffice in the back of the rack for this duty.  Belkin 12 outlet jobs good enough?  I pull all the power whenever there's a lightning storm, but there can still be spikes and surges during regular use, so I'd still like to be protected for that.  The furmans at least do that too, but I know the Belkin will as well at a much lower cost.  I'm not needing any "power conditioning", whatever that means these days anyway.  Can't do Equi-tech...way too much cash.  Need something that works and won't break the bank that won't put all the gear at risk.

Thanks!
Sig

Tripp lite also makes some strips that can mount vertically in the back of a rack, with enough space between outlets to fit wall warts. I don't know what protection they may have, likely minimal.

Scroll down a bit for the long ones:

And these really neaten up the back of a rack, but it looks like they are out of stock right now:
