Hi all
I am building my son a stereo Linsley-Hood (JLH) 10w class A amp, and I only have one suitable power transformer with 15v output, the secondary wired as 15-0-15v AC.
I would like to have 2 x 20v DC supplies (one for each amp) and I came up with the following idea:

I am pretty sure there is a better way to do this!
Will this work?
Does anyone have a better way to do this?

Many thanks, Peter

Although it looks like a simple amplifier, the JLH 10W class A is actually not. For each channel you need about 100W transformer, and definitely fullwave bridge rectification and some kind of stabilization or regulation of the supply voltage. This amplifier has a relatively poor PSRR. If the proposed transformer is about 200W, I would use a full wave rectifier and then some industrial step down SMPS 30-48V to 20-24V/5A for each channel.
This amplifier gets very hot and you should definitely use good heat sinks, when you think they are big enough, double everything :).
