Hi
I'm buliding a stereo Pultec EQP 1A
It's possible to have all boost and cut  stepped ( 1db for step)

The original have too much db of bost/cut for my purpose
I want to have at max 12 db of bost or cut
how can I do this?

Thanks!!!

Absolutely possible, though on the high boost the max gain varies with bandwidth.  From memory I don't think the gain law is particularly linear with rotation on any of the controls (so a quarter rotation of the pot isn't necessarily a quarter of the maximum cut / boost), so if you want dB steps it's probably easiest to breadboard with pots - finding your desired gain steps and measuring resistance in the pot at each step, then turning those values into the relevant rotary switches. That'll give you the range you're looking for as well.
