I was looking at the Cinemag Mic Output website today and reading about their CM-13114.

The specs say:

CM-13114 21.2K:150 (12:1)   Hum-bucking condenser mic output transformer. Excellent bandwidth and phase shift. T14

I am confused by the numbers.

21,200/150 = 141.33

What am I missing? I know that turns ratios aren't necessarily equal to impedance ratios but this seems like a big difference.

I thought it might be a typo but see that several of the transformers have similar specs so I figure there must be something I need to learn about considering.

Any thoughts?

From what I understand, you have to take the square of the turns ratio, then multiply that by the output impedance.

12x12 = 144

144x150 = 21,600. Pretty close to 21,200. In other words the transformer is actually slightly less than 12:1. Like 11.888:1
