I have acces to a collection "ready to be thrown away" halogen floorlamps with dimmers. The bulbs are 12 V, they connect to 240 V via a torodial transformer. Are these any good to use in DIY? :?:
They look very solid btw

Tony

they're real as the ones I've bought for my other projects. Look very similar, just wasn't sure about the specs/performance/quality.
I assume if they look well built, they must be.

What runs on 12v of all the nice projects around here?

Any news on the Gyrafgoodies Jakob?
The Moonlies (in testfase ) are performing well, albeit very clean :?

Cheers,

Tony

Put two of them together the right way and you've got a 24vac center-tapped source, which can be then used for a +-15vdc power supply. That'll do for op-amp based projects.

Aah yes.. The Gyraffes..

..They just completed their 48H burn-in, and should be ready to ship quite soon...
