RCA BA-46 Schematic

Anyone have this? It's the transistorized FET compressor. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

You should know it requires a BA-43A amp to function, as it's an insert piece in the BA-43A signal path.  Same with the BA-45A and BA-47A.

I didn't know that, but no big deal, I could always amps to take care of makeup gain. I'm really only interested in how the side-chain works anyways. I'm curious about different FET based designs, and although there are plenty of FET compressors on the market, they're basically all modeled after the 1176. The Allison Research Gain Brain was a little different, but other than that I don't know of many other implementations. I was hoping the RCA would shed some light on other ideas.

Hi friends, rather than start a new thread, I figured I’d add on to this one. I recently picked up a BA-46 unit along with a BA-43 unit and can’t find any info online on how to wire them together. If anyone has any documentation that hasn’t been added to the Tech docs, that’d be helpful! I saw that the BA-43 and BA-45 schematics are there, and I might be able to experiment using those since it’s a similar idea linking those two. Anyway, thanks in advance!

[can’t find any info online on how to wire them together] -- What exactly do you mean by "how to wire them together"? I thought that I saw "something" along those lines as I quickly glanced through the information I had provided you with. But, I could be wrong. I don't remember.....

What is it that you are attempting to accomplish by "wiring them together"? Now.....I have absolutely no familiarity with either of these two units, but if you could possibly carefully and clearly detail what it is that you are wanting to do, then perhaps some other members may be able to help you out better. Just sayin'.....

Hi MidnightArrakis, I’m sorry I somehow missed your earlier reply. In case it wasn’t clear, what I was originally looking for was RCA documentation (which I was eventually able to order from manualman’s website!) because like @emrr says in post #4, the ba-46 unit does not function on its own, but it’s an insert piece for the BA-43. So by “wire them together” I meant what connections needed to be made between the connectors of the 2units.

I’m happy to report that yesterday I was able to wire up the connectors and the units sound good so far! I’m excited to put them through their paces more.

For future users that might be looking for the same info, it was actually more straight forward than I guessed and I’ll try attaching a photo here.
