I bought a prebuild powersupply that were supposed to be +/-15V but I got the wrong one. The one I got was a +/-24V. I was going to use it for matching transistors and I need a psu that gives 10-18Vdc.
All i got at home is some 7812 and 7912, do you guys think I can use the psu with my 7812/7912 without changing the caps?

Sorry for the badly drawn schematic:

Unless you are going into the matching business, why not a 9V battery?

Some diode in your sketch must be drawn wrong, but yes, the 12V parts should be a direct swap. They will overheat at lower load current because you are feeding them enough to deliver 24V but only using 12V. The "missing" 12V appears as heat in the regulator. But we rarely match transistors at huge current, so that may not be a problem.

Thanks guys!

I don't now, I thought about it. 9V seems low so I went the safe way.
The sketch was just to show caps i think so the diodes might be turned the wrong way, im no guru

The regs have two really big heatsinks.

Thanks again1 :thumb:
