I just picked up a pair of Beyerdynamic M81s (M818 as a set) but unfortunately one of them is bad. The other one is ppretty great, though - so great that it makes my think about salvaging the broken one.
The problem is that there is very little output in the range below 250hz or so and also a quite noticeable dip in volume around 1.5khz. But when comparing with the healthy one, I notice that there is roughly the same output level and there is no hum indicating a ground loop.
I know many factors may contribute to these symptoms, but do you have some suggestion where to start in terms of figuring out what's wrong with it?
