These equate to 1-2 cents/pence per resistor...... Really great prices.

and it you check their Caps its about 5 pence/10 cents per cap.....

are these to be trusted quality wise????
should one expect some slop (non working)

This would be a great way to build up supplies........ but if they are not to be trusted for higher end peices of Kit like the DIY*81, G*SSL, Gy-Tec*EQP1A , etc etc.... then i will stick to Xicon and Panasonic from Digikey, Mouser, Newark etc...

What does everyone think?

Only if you use ALL 1,100 resistors.

My many-decades experience is that you'll never use more than 10%-20% of the resistors in an assortment. So the net cost is still about 12 cents each, same as the per-each price has been since 1966 (two for $0.25 at Lafayette Electronics).

As a cost-cutter, it is a wash.

As a way to "always" (almost) have the "right" value on-hand, it is cheap. And many places have similar assortments every day. (I can't say I've seen 1% 50ppm at this price.)

No, no. Good bulk resistors are now cheaper than rejected/re-tested resistors. These will be factory-new, probably on tape, and with defect levels in the one per million range. (Oh, some chance the assortment packers will give you two tapes of 2K2 instead of a 220 and a 2K2: read the marks!)

Probably the same resistors in many $5,000 famous-brand boxes. Sure better quality than we could afford in The Old Days. 1% resistors existed but (unless a major military contract had just been surplused) were mighty expensive.

Sooo....these are good?

and what about the caps?

And others as well.

with resistors i get it. rather strait forward. but with caps.. bit of variance quality wise..right?

I think a few UK guys here use Fast Components
Take the next bit of stuff with a pinch of salt as I am very new to this..
I don't worry too much about Metal Film Resistors apart from the 6k8 phantom power ones where I buy tight tolerances
I just bought a big load of a range of resistors for a tenner from somewhere (fast components I think!)
I buy power oxide resistors at 1,W,2W and 3W and use those in the PSUs I build.
With regard to capacitors - I did buy a load of whatever I could find that matched the voltage and capacitance value mentioned in the projects..
But since then I have grown a bit wary...
Why spend a lot on transformers and the rest of the bits and bobs and skimp on a few quid for some decent caps
I notice what other guys are buying in this group and now are buying those..
I don't pay attention to the voltage requirements as long as they are greater or equal to the value specified
But I do pay a lot of attention to the pin spacing (I have a lot of redundant caps with the wrong spaces!!)
e.g.
Wima Polypro and Polycarb caps
Kemet Tants
Elna Starget Electros
Ceramic COG (something like that)

Elna Starget Electros
Having problems with these ? Could imagine they are a bit too fat on some places. But leads will always fit, especially since they need to be put a bit higher up away from the PCB anyway on times.
I had to do that on the SSL-comp-PCB, tight spacing of components so those Stargets were a bit too large.
