Hello,
I've some problem with a Revox PR99
It is a stereo model, but it want to record just one track at the time: if I lift up the switch for the both channels don't record nothing, if I lift up only one switch for one channel it will record in that channel.
Furthermore the channel one have a very low signal that sound distorted.
this happen when I have the output switch on "reproduce", otherwise if it's in "input" I can ear clean and good signal in both the channels.

Someone have some advice?

First thing to do is thoroughly clean the heads. Then play a known good tape. If that works then the problem is on the record side.

Cheers

Ian

I would check the wipers of the trimpots inside.
The quality of the trimpots used by Revox is not very good and after some time the wipers just fall off...
(I replaced all trimpots in my Revox recorders.)
I might be that the bias trimpot is damaged, in that case you would get a low level distorted sound.

Yes Ruffrecords I did it before to start:
I bought it recently, and I start to test it before to calibrate it.
so first I cleaned the heads, and demagnetised the heads and the other parts the tape is going to touch, then I started to play a random tape and even a calibration tape (for the azimuth)  and was all ok (except the line output... don't works). Then I started to test the record function and it gave me the problems I told.
that's why in my question I jumped direct to the record card/section.

Ok, Thanks RuudNL
some tips for the Line out card? except to swap all the yellow old electrolytic  caps ?
