Nice! :thumb:

But this will for shure make me eat only porridge and drink water rest of the summer.. We should arrange a group buy for some Elma switches i think.

Bernd, what switches are in your picture?

Hi,
the frontpanel layout is not even beta, Rowan, there is already a kind of contribution to your splendid work, but I´m still thinking about a solution. The switches are from a groupbuy, they are some kind of chinsese Elma substitutes. I don´t know the brand. For the meters I can´t say for now, if they will work or not. I´ll test them.

I also bought some at the groupbuy at frank's forum but i also bought some of the same switches at the finish webshope uraltone.

Ok. Have you used these before? Are they OK?

The datasheet doesn't say if it's shorting or non-shorting? I've seen the ones at Uraltone, they are non-shorting. I would need some switches for some other projects as well.

[quote author="analag"]Is that Fairchild I see on the front panel? I am in awe.

I am not sure If I undersand you right, but If you would not like to have all those Compressors labled with Fairchild on it, it would maybe a good idea to give a clear name you desire to this community.

You deirve all the fame. :thumb:

they are 2 deck, 23 position, shorting switches with end stop. They are also available in various other configuration. I won´t do a groupbuy for these switches since I´m quite busy with prototyping. Later I will do a groupbuy for a costum made power transformer for this project (Europeans only). I think, there will be a groupbuy for US members as well.

I guess this question should go to Silent Arts. Is it possible that the 2 left-side tubes are so close to the 2 10uf Wima caps that they will heat the caps unnecessarily? These mu designs always idle hot. I always thought a watchdog circuit that put the tubes at a higher bias after 5 mins of no audio would be cool.
Probably make the tubes last 3x longer too.

mhm - interesting question - and I can't answer it (yet)

let me say it like this:
since the layout was checked by analag (who knows very very much more than me about tubes, especially in this design) ...

he told me the sidechain tubes will get hot
those are the ones on the right side

powered up the PSU board with success today, we are near to see how hot everything gets

I was also wondering about the heatsinks being close to caps.

And the two large heatsinks almost touching. Are they the same potential, or would it be a problem if they touched?
