Anyone familiar with the Sony SRA-2 and/or SRA-3 recording amplifiers?
These are 1960s stereo tube preamps.

Info, schematics, and manual for the SRA-3 can be found here if you're interested:
http://www.hifiengine.com/manuals/sony/sra-3.shtml

Don't have any documentation on the SRA-2.

Wondering if they are worth restoring, if there are any mods that might make them awesomer, etc etc.

Been told that they have potential, also been told they might not be worth the trouble.

Any shared knowledge and/or opinions would be most appreciated...

Bought an SRA 3 a few yrs.ago at the swapmeet. $10 .Works great.Daisy chain ch1+ch2,plug a guitar in the front and it kills! You can change the tape speed eq on the front:3.75 and 7.5 and the eq curves change. Original tubes, microphonic now, but that just adds more color. They show up on Ebay periodically.I have the complete service manual,if anyones interested.

Hello Jim,
We don’t know each other but I found this now very dated thread while searching for information about the Sony SR2-A. I just picked one up for $125 and it for sure should be restored. I have a love for this equipment and a desire to preserve it. I don’t care wether it’s “worth” it or not (I believe it almost always is). I am messaging you as you probably have guessed to ask about a copy of the service manual. If you have it and could offer me a copy I’d be in your debt.
