The original U95 was supposed to be a Chinese capsule mic, a good one by all accounts. The European capsule successor is the U95s model.

The U195, last I heard, was the only Chinese capsule mic left in the company's catalog. (They were talking about re-sourcing.) Might be worth tracing, because Bock has said that it was a weird circuit that just happened to work with that capsule.

I have a U95 earlier version, it's a good mic but a little harsh sounding, I'll bet with the blue capsule it would sound better. There's no writting on the transformer but the windings are wrapped in yellow tape so is the outside core material if that means anything to you. I sure would love to get the schematics.

I've been eyeing that page even before i started building the G7.

I would love to have the money to buy one of each capsule to build three G7's and hear what each one sounds like simultaneously. Then buy a second of whichever me likes and make a stereo pair and then have the other two for variety single mikes...heh.

But seeing as I can't even afford a pair of Peluso's $175 capsules, I don't see even one BLUE capsule happening any time soon for me.

Vintage mic had a listing of the Plum mic using the U67 capsule and the Kiwi mic using a different capsule as a replacement for the U87. I thought the U87 and U67 shared the same capsule, also I couldn't find any reference to the Plum mic online or at the Bluemic webpage.
