in the not too distant future, I will have 4 or so sets of Chinese capsules and transformers from donor mics.  What does one do with these spare parts?

Is there any wisdom to having the capsules re-skinned by ...say Peluso?  Or should I just keep them around for trouble shooting...

I think it depends upon the quality.
If the capsules sound reasonable (most modern Chinese capsules aren't that bad nowadays), I would just keep them as they are.
I would never go through the costs of reskinning a cheap capsule.
In that case it would probably be a better idea to buy a real good capsule.

I recently measured a couple of transformers from Chinese microphones.
The result were excellent! Good frequency response, low distortion etc.
Personally I didn't see any reason to replace the transformers, other than the idea that the new transformer is from a well known brand and costed a small fortune...
