Kid Squid, are you still planning to do a run of cases and power transformers? Just trying to figure out my options since I'm getting ready to put one of these together. Thanks!

Hi lads,

Apologies for not following up from the earlier threads, work and life situations have continued to be all over the shop since my last post.
I have now secured a reliable metal worker and everything I have had made recently has been of the highest quality.

That was my main concern about doing another run. The quality.

My original metalworker was first class, but they folded after the pandemic and left me nearly a thousand pound out of pocket.
To be honest, I gave up looking after that.

However, the last two years, I have been working closely with the new firm, and they have been nothing short of spectacular. Communications, professionalism, and delivery of product.

I keep getting messages from you lovely people about possibly doing another run.

Since the last post, I have also lost my contact for the custom pots etc, but have started comms with the company, as quite a few other jobs have relied on this contact.

So,
I will do another run, but it will be just case only. I would prefer to keep the power transformer on the outside of the case, so, either a transformer with end bells / bottom exiting cables, or possibly a transformer mounting plate to suit different transformers - similar to the original Bloo2a.
The other option would be an external cover to suit a type of transformer.

Obviously, the more people that are interested, will bring the overall price down.
But, since the last run, things have dramatically changed here in the U.K., with all of this brexit nonsense -
Shipping to the EU now will incur tax etc, and there’s a whole new level of shipping forms / codes that I don’t fully understand at the moment. Pretty sure you guys could help out with that though !

Awesome ! I could be interested in a case, if you have any pictures or info, as I am in the process of gathering parts to build one from the ground up.
Are we talking aluminium, steel ? painted ? silkscreened ? What is the price range ? As I said in 2016 I am interested in a blank case. Even a prototype !

Sowter I/O transformer cutouts.
I will do another run of the same, but will have to modify the design to allow for different types of mains transformers.

The price range was based on quantity ordered, and that was with a different metalworker, pre- COVID, and pre Brexit.

It really depends on the ordered quantity, which obviously depends on how many people would like one.

I will dig out my files and approach my new metalworker for quotes.

Just a word of caution to you all,
I’ve just been reading the posts toward the end of that thread -
I’m just the guy that gets them made, no mark up etc, making sure that everything that I designed, came back EXACTLY as I wanted them.
The prototypes / issues/ running around etc were all payed for out of my own pocket, as it was my way of giving back to the forum for the incredible education that I have gained here over the years.

I’m not well versed in all of the shipping / customs BS, and I implore that you guys check to see if you will be able to afford any customs import duty that needs to be paid on your side.
I simply haven’t got the time or the headspace for all of that.

Maybe it will be an idea that anyone who wants a case sort out their own shipping ?
At least then, you’d be in control of duty.
I would gladly give my address for any pickups etc.

Not even sure that can be done, but as I said earlier, I just haven’t got the time for all that noise that comes with it.

I’m up for discussion though.
