Hi Folks,

I'm planning on building a stereo mic pre using two SSL 9Ks from PCB Grinder. I'd like to use a standard 19" rack case and I plan to get a custom front panel made.

I'm interested in hearing people's opinions on what layout they prefer for the controls on a stereo mic pre like this. I've had a bit of a look around and most seem to be either a "1-2-side-by-side", a "mirror image", or some variation like side-by-side but with the meters next to each other or above one another. I plan on doing some stereo recording so I like to idea of having the controls, and especially the meters, close together.

Any thoughts of this?

Cheers,

Chris

Here's my 71X version.  Vertical mount, with M/S decoding built in.  Sorry for the marginal photos.

Hi,

Do you have any more info about this - it's pretty much what I'd like to build.

What PCB did you use? Can it be used for dual-mono?

Could you post some more pictures of the innards.

Cheers,

Chris

Again, sorry for the marginal photo.  2 "bodge wires" on the meter/switch board (rats!)
