I'm going through the process of shifting my home studio gear into a new rack setup. I've enlisted the help of a good buddy, and he's cringing at the sight of so many Hosa, el-cheapo and DIY cables in my rig. He swears by Mogami cables, and is willing to bet $100 i'll hear a straight up improvement by swapping to Mogami myself... if not, the $100 is mine. I estimate i'll need a budget of about $800-1K to make the switch.
So my question is - are Mogami cables really worth the investment, or should I just continue on with maintaining the so-called ugly bunch of cables I currently use? If the only difference is reliability that's not really a sell for me, as in my experience the only difference between a non-working cable and a working cable is a date with a soldering iron.
I've never bought a 'top shelf' cable in my life so I have no scope for comparison. Are Mogami cables worth their outlay?
