Tascam 244

Hi Folks - for anyone who's worked on a Tascam 244, have you ever encountered a problem with the Rec/Play head wherein the windings on one (or more) channels has gone open? Weirdest thing I've ever seen -- 3 channels measure open ckt right at the head. One channel measures about 160 ohms. Thoughts?

that sounds unusual...

at Peavey last century I was over their 4T cassette deck product and the head was not cheap. Does the Tascam support individual single channel punch-in? That requires extra magnetic shielding in the head.
