Well, as I see it, to test these you would need a simple test circuit.
The VCA needs power, test signal in, test signal out and CV in...

The GSSL is a simple circuit that has all these features :)

I'm looking for a pair in the Black Market if anyone has any ;)

I don't get it.

-So suppose you find out a way to test them... -How are you going to test them, without soldering to them?

Are you going to use alligator clips or something similar to make connections?

If so, why not simply use the GSSL and alligator clip wires to test each 202C before soldering them in?

It seems to me that it's the SOLDERING that you're trying to avoid, not the GSSL.

fair point... I wouldn't normally bother doing that, but then I don't normally buy 30 year old components. from my point of view I'm interested because if there is a way of testing they work simply and quickly that doesn't rely on me also building every other element of the GSSL correctly first time :)

But I'm just interested really, also being a modular synth DIYer I can't help wondering how they would sound in that context too.

You want a full quality verification? Or just sort-out the Dead and Very-Sick units?

This test does not verify dB/Volt (but that can hardly be wrong) or noise (you could listen for gross hiss). It will find the blown-out units that creep into repair-shop bins.
