ADM had a clever (patented) design they called Slidex (pix attached).

Patented a motion transfer from linear to rotation with helicoid !?! man...
Remind me this great scene in the movie (adaptation) from H.G.Wells where the Tripods still dumb by turning a bicycle wheel

By the way... early Studer tube mixer from 50' use this exact idea.

I'm just puzzled with this kind of patent, especially when now I see it's from the 70' !
Still I'm not expert in patent and all strategy that may play around.

Bob Bloom is quite an interesting mind. I believe he had a patent for the Audex switching system too.
