I'm reminded of the anecdote I read as to how the great Cannonball Adderley got his name. He was known amongst friends and family for having a prodigious appetite and got named 'Cannibal' on account. Racial tension being what it was in the '50s, the labels and promoters of the time didn't think it was a good move to have a black guy named 'cannibal'...hence the name change...
