I think the spring loading is a nice option, quick and easy removal without having to unscrew a vice grip all the time.

In the sales blurb they claim it lays flat on the desk instead of being suspended in the air like the panavise. He says it's easier to solder things resting your hands on the table, especially longer sessions.

Have you priced a PanaVise lately? I like this version, too.

I drilled a shallow hole in the middle of my Panavise cranky handle, ground off  most of the threads of a short phillips screw, and epoxied it into the hole. Now, going from 1/8" to 6 " is just grabbing a screwgun and spinning it at 1100 RPM. It does need balancing at that speed.
