It would be interesting to find out exactly how much equipment damage due to leakage from these batteries has been caused...

I've noticed some newer designs are using supercaps as an alternative to lithium ion storage. Is there any wizardry involved or can you just replace with a 3.6v supercap ?

Fortunately the traces survived, one leg on a transistor completely gone... more cleaning...

This battery will be mounted remotely if nothing else !

i had an old cat with bad kidneys who pissed on my ADA first generation flanger.

don't know what was wrong with that cat but piss collected in the recessed section of the flanger where the five pots sit, acted just like a sink, collected there and drained on to the pc board whereby it melted every resistor, transistor and cap lead on the board as well as etching away at the traces. looked like somebody dumped hydro-chloric acid on the thing. i want another one but the originals, which sound special go for about 1000 smackers.

why they had to design this thing like a cat urinal i will never know>

Traces repaired, components replaced and 1F 5.5V supercap installed (lead spacing was ideal)... fingers crossed !
