God damn! These are impossible to find here. I have rung everyone, gone through the phone book etc...

Does anyone know where I might get one, prefrably in Melbourne? thanks.

If you are in a new design and not for substitution, I suggest you NOT to play with this IC, it just sounds bad in regulating power supply for tube circuits, stick to transistor topology for this purpose!

Best,
Val

Interesting...

I presume all G9 users have used these, thats what Im looking for it for. I havent heard any complaints re this reg. so far. Got a substitution suggestion then ?

I know how it sounds on the G9 since I've built one. But if you do not want problems, just go to transistors.

I always use PI filter with inductance, a battery of zener diodes in series with a PNP (MJE350) as a constant current generator, followed by 2 NPN in common base topology, using polypropylene caps and metal foil resistors, the result is amazing (250v output and you cannot even see the ripple on the 'scope!) pretty damn good.

Best,
Val

Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

This really disappointing, the whole unavailability thing, as I have a project starting this weekend I hoped to use the G9 for. The voltage reg is the ONLY thing holding it back.

Hope this will help

Thanks Mnats :0)

Unfortunately RS has discontinued them I discovered on a phone call.

They show up as discontinued on their website too but they seem to have some in stock as they can be added to an order with the note "Available for immediate despatch". Also, they seem to have tubes of 50 showing up not as discontinued stock (371-1157). Group buy?

So I see, thats interesting. I rang Sydney to check, even though im in Melbourne. I think I might ring Melbourne tomorrow. Thanks again for going to trouble :0) .
