hey all i have had this recorded since the beginning of august ..
i am just now uploading it to my ftp for your downloading pleasure

this is recorded in the following manner:
single mic for BOTH vocals and guitar in one shot!
places aproximately 2-3 feet from sources (vocals and guitar)
single mic for overdubbed lead
ran through my raduis 50 with a tiny bit of compression just so i didn't clip in digital (yuk! you know how that sounds CLICK!)

Also i recorded this at about 4AM so i had to choose something i could play quietly ...
i love the way a guitar sounds whem played quietly ...

I am playing really cheap $50 guitar i bought at the pawn shop. (Kona)
i competely remove all the finish on the guitar and refinished it myself..
i have to say she is beautiful and sounds really good . (pics later)
the sound was the first criteria i considered when i found it at the pawn shop.

it sounds different that My Martin but stlll VERY nice ..

My Martin is a bit more solid of a sound
(becuase it was probably made for live performances where feedback can be a problem)

so without futher adue ....

BTW it is a 2.4M download but it is a complete song ... sorry dial up users ... be patient you'll be gald you did.

looking forward to your kind comments and impressions.

Hey TS,

I like this. It reminds me of "Nebraska" by Bruce Springsteen - except yours is probably better recorded! Nice guitar sound too.

So, what mic was it then? A JZ-1..... What is that? Is it a Violet mic?

Roddy

Roddy,
JZ-1 is the "copy" of blue 'blueberry' not really made by violet but the designer of the violet range.

try www.JZ-recording.lv

I don't really know if it's a real copy (...or which one copy the other!) and i really don't care about it!! It seem there is a legal war between them...
If you are lookin'for info about that there is a post about that ... But i don't think it's really interresting discussion , at least for me!
Anyway the mic sound ok to me too.
I wonder if he still product the capsule range blue was selling a year ago (cactus, plum and Kiwi)...?

rbod thanks for your very kind comments

ALSO.. just to clarify .. this is a JZ Recording Signature line ...
pretty much seperate from violet but built i the same factory ...
and the original so ... i think the blueberry is a copy of the jz-1

ALSO i forgot to mention that i did use a tiny bit of reverb.
i used the plug-in ""blue tubes TLE (tapeless echo)
it emulates the space echo type reverbs ...
it was a nice effect on those squeaky string chord changes .. kinda masked them ... and made them musical ... hehe a lil trick...

ALSO at the beginning you can hear a lil squeak of the guitar strings
this is because THERE IS NO FADE IN.. i did this so you can hear the noise floor ..

i am sitting RIGHT in front of my noisy computer too .. so if you do hear any noise ... see if it sounds like a hard drive whirring .. lol

anyway i am looking forward to everyones comments ..
with over 60 views and no comments ....
i was beginning to feel like i was in the twilight zone .... :theme plays: lol
or there was a ts boycott ... LOL
anyway hope this has provided some info for everyone.

HEY matta what do your think?

Hey Toobie,

I think it sounds great, well done. I also like the echo, it def adds a vibe.
The mic sounds clear and I enjoyed your playing style, sounds like DADGAD to me?
Cool vocals as well, nice and gritty. Also I think it is more your PC fan noise in the
background more than the hardrive spinning around, mechanical, tape hiss :green:

Cheers

Matt

butta have yu tried right clicking 0r on a mac "control clicking"
then you can dl it to your hd and play it from your mp3 player .
if you still have problems let me know .

thanks BC
i really wanted to do that one mic thing ..
i was inspired by the last Johnny Cash recording ..
and it was possible with this mic ..
it was great not having to be concerned with proximity effects and still have good sound ..
one of the first times in my life where NO eq was used and i was completely happy..

and when i combined it with my d-1c ribbon mic well ... WOW
but thta will clip well be a while before i post it ..
you see how long it took me to post this one i recorded a month ago..
LOL
sorry .... i got too many irons on the fire ... LOL
but that cn be a good thing too ...
any way thanks again.
looking forward to all your additional kind comments and observations

Very cool, thanks for sharing! :thumb:
I noticed the reverb right off and it suits the song well, lots of space to fill up with ambiance.

Looking forward to the ribbon clips.
I'm not familiar with this mic but it sounds GOOD!
