I figured somewhere around +8db.
Is there a risk of damaging the audio interface? due to the impedance difference between the output and the primary?
As long as the reflected impedance at the primary does not overload the output, it's fine. This limit is generally spec's as minimum load impedance, but this limit is related to a loss of performance, typically distortion; most of the output stages are protected against shorts and overload, so, as long as you don't hear excessive distortion, you're safe.
