OK i found this java prog on the net , i am trying to simulate a triode pre amp theseare my results.

?

1} is this half a triode or two triodes in one body

2} how can i get the peak to peak voltage of the tri0de to match better

Falstad circuit simulator!

Its a single triode, and that one is a standard amplifier. Try a white cathode follower or something for (close to) unity gain.

Hey ChrioN

if i drop another single triode in their and copy the parts to the new triode  will that make it a differentially  amp.

how would you feed the two grids , would you feed them with one signal or would you have to feed both grids with a single signal out of phase with each other.

where would i find a  white cathode follower , in the simulator?

so what topology would call this, it is the front end of 430c compressor.
This is the gain control stage of the compressor. The cathodes are probably connected to ground (not visible in the image), the center tap is fed with the control voltage (which also works as bias).
The circuit is symmetric, otherwise the control voltage (which changes small signal gain but also anode current and voltage) would appear on the output. Due to the symmetric design this is canceled.
Otherwise it is simply a common cathode topology without cathode resistor (instead biasing is done by a negativ grid voltage).

What kind of circuit are you heading for?

If the shown program is limited to preset circuit designs you can alternativly simulate tubes with PSpice, although it is a little bit tricky to set up. (you find descriptions on duncanamps.com)

yeah the circuit above is what i am interested in just want understand gain and biasing , my program is limited can really change any values but its working so far.

Can PSpice work on a mac   duo intel running 10.49

yeah just simed a long-tailed pair , it works could be a little faster, need to under stand how to use the tapped tx for the out  of this thing.

Me too I use a mac, and I'm looking for a good simulator.

Skal1, that program you're using looks good.

When you say it's limited, what exactly do you mean?

I'm gonna try an download it to test it out.

maybe the wrong words , you can not put a capacitor in circuit with out a resistor in parallel , and you can not change how the semiconductors voltages b,c,e. The transformer is kind of useless can not work out how to place it in circuit.

Can't you use bootcamp to run a win program? I know a number of LTSpice users who do that. The reason? LTSpice is free, supported by Linear Lechnology, it has a very helpful forum, many tube models. Running tube sims is already enough complex, you don't want to add the hassle of fighting against an orphaned sim program.
But you also have to learn more about circuit configuration. You want to know common cath, voltage follower, cascode, diff, push-pull. The Radiotron pages are excellent for that.
