On the New York State website that lists hunting seasons it says bow hunting for Turkey is the most challenging hunt. The season is very short and it's really hard to hit a Turkey with an arrow. It is against the rules and dangerous to give chase. You have to sit with your back against a tree and wait.
 
Our Maine turkeys, if you don't kill the whole flock with your first blast, they will rip you apart.

A Maine turkey's track is near as big as a moose track. (Yes, the moose has a lot more weight in each track.)
 
I'm not a hunter but my old  terrier chased a young spring Turkey until it played dead. Luckily he got bored and gave up. I yelled a lot.
