I agree here.Kk47 from Neumann. Its not cheap, but its the real thing when you want something post-PVC era. And it sounds really good!

If you want something PVC, then anyway Thiersch is your only option.

Probably the Flea or the Thiersch (red line) - I think these two are based on same hardware.

Note: The M7 is in no way as complicated or as hard to get sounding right as the CK12 - so I suspect there will be only small sonic variations between manufacturers (and/or individual capsules).

I feel that there is a significant difference between makers.  Neumann is widely considered "the best" but at well over $800 per-capsule, you have to ask yourself if it's worth it, or if that extra $500 + could be put to better use somewhere else in your studio.

Here's a great shoot-out that our own Chunger did with a Thiersch blue, Eric H hybrid, and BeesNeez; http://studio939.blogspot.com/2014/11/vocal-microphone-and-capsule-testing.html

And, here's an older comparison with a few different options and re-skins (some of which aren't currently available);

Keep in mind that "best" is a relative term that is influenced by application, perception, and personal taste.

You said you had no price restrictions. So buy the Neumann.

Best,
Dan,

I am very pleased with my Thiersch blue line PVC in my AMI U47 build. Oliver chose that capsule for CS-4, so I trusted his judgement on that and have not been disappointed.

It would be interesting to compare KK47 to Thiersch red line Mylar. The Neumann is about 3X the price, wonder if it sounds 3X as good as the Thiersch? I understand that the backplates and edge termination is different. Just sayin'...
