U87 noisy pad

Have an older 87  from the '70s.

Pad engaged gives me windy poppy noises.  I'm seeing c15 as the culprit (polystyrene? I haven't looked but guessing) and it looks like it's within the kk basket assembly?

I never use the pad, thinking of leaving it alone.  Thoughts?

C15 is indeed inside the headbasket.
It could also be the switch.
But if yo don't use it, I would leave it as it is!
