This might be a naive question, but rather than using a UTC A-10 in reverse for a passive DI, what would be the difference using an A-24?

How do people normally connect the A-10 for a DI? is it 50K:50 or 50K:500?

A-10 is +/- 2db 20-20kHz and A-24 is +/- 2db 20-40kHz, don't know if that makes any practical difference in a DI box...
But price does, you can buy A-10 for around 100€ (more or less) and the A-24 for 200€ (more or less)

They have different ratios.
You would connect the A10 50k:200 ohms to interface it with a mic preamp. 50k means it has higher inductance which means it is probably more suited for higher Impedance gear like some electric guitars or bass. A24 is 15k:200 which is probably a little low for guitars... but maybe enough for  Keyboards.
Hope I got this right.

Unfortunately that article has some very misleading claims, particularly the ones around electrical safety.
edit:
the graphic/hookup drawing is no longer hosted
grounding the guitar amp through console via DI seems less than ideal...dated info from a time when 2 pin power leads were prevalent

Completely missed the part where the A-24 primary is 15k not 50k! After a few decent google image searches it all made sense. Thanks for the help guys!
