Putin in another attempt to prop up the eroding Maduro regime just landed two aircraft with 100 soldiers in Venezuela near Caracas.
IIRC the last military/security support was done indirectly through cuba and flying on commercial flights for the last leg. This is an escalation at least from the PR visuals.
The 100 military personnel are there supposedly to train Venezuelan military on russian weapons systems that Maduro purchased in the past (cough). Maybe they can use those weapons systems to keep US humanitarian aid from coming across the Columbian border.
