Okay, so I'm thinking it would be fun to send the Barry Porter NetEQ gerber files somewhere to have a few sets of PCBs made up.  This is something I know absolutely nothing about.  Can anyone with some experience doing very small runs of PCBs recommend a person or place for doing this?  I'm way out of my element here but I'd like to try this thing out.  Thanks in advance.

Hey Steve,

Which version of the Barry EQ gerbers do you have ? The public ones with the DIP-8 everywhere or the custom designed one with the 990 footprints?
I use Futurelec http://www.futurlec.com/PCBService.shtml

They are quick and cheap. They also accept Eagle BRD files native so you don't have to gerber.

If you have the 990 footprint gerber make me one too!

Thanks for the Futurelec tip.  I'll check them out.  I just have the public files.  I'd like to have the option for DOA use but I wouldn't know where to begin.

I've had good experiences using PCBCart (www.pcbcart.com). They are in China and all the PCB's I've had made by them have been excellent. Their website does online quoting so you know what the tooling charges are. You'll either have to supply Gerber files or one of the CAD (I use Protel) file types.

I just had these run at imagineering for $25.00 a pop.  1 week turn around.  I'm very happy

Do you still have the gerber files? I can't seem to track them down anywhere online.

pcbcart.com is really good and they also look at your gerber files and comment them if something is wrong.

http://pcbcart.com/

these guys are now doing proto board runs up to 100 pcs with NO TOOLING CHARGE !!
Best proto deal going. :)

GARY

No sure where you get the no tooling charge from. If you raise the quantities the unit price goes down but there's still tooling rolled in there.

Cheers

Look on their Home page under  Easy Prototype
"No tooling cost"

I have used this prototype service twice now
and was never charged a tooling charge. Nice quality too.
Really nice deal. :)

I recently used Osh Park and am quite pleased...enough to do a re-order.

https://oshpark.com/

I'm getting comfortable with Kicad for design, and the Gerbers turned into great little cards for me.  I kinda dig the purple soldermask color!

Oh!  Here is one of the purple Osh Park cards "in action":

I just sent off a PCB to Ragworm:

http://ragworm.eu/

Just over £30 for a 50mm by 150mm board in 10 days. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Cheers

Ian

Advanced circuits will do 33usd per board up to 60 square inches with a 5 day turn around. Not sure if shipping would pan out for you though.

Just checked that offer. Unfortunately there is a minimum order of 4 boards.
