on the bench, VOX AC15 reissue, no power, bad xfmr, rewind time,

check out the offshore work, scatter wound secondary, sections right next to each other,

notice in the second pic how they pulled the 6.3 heater wire into the margin of the HV secondary, (right side)

no wonder they put internal fuses inside,

800 dollars, yikes!

@NoisyIndividual

Yeahbut, you would have to have paid 8000 dollars or more for a proper one.

This way you could buy 10 of them ......

Do you really think this kind of language makes you look smarter? Have you never bought something that turned out to be crap?
Me, I should be dead a thousand times...

No Men, I Do Not really think this kind of language makes me look smarter…

I Do really think this kind of language makes me look fanny and here we come not only just to share information(s) about our DIY projects, but also to share jokes and to have fun…

So yeah, the whole paragraph that you quote, it is something like a funny joke here in my country and as you know my country among other things it is the birth cradle of tragedy and comedy and here in Greece we like to share jokes & have fun!…

I understand that these kinds of jokes are not the political correct ones that you may like, it is just like I saying:

“Rather than buying an overpriced Korg-Vox PCB Board AC15 I prefer to buy a p2p Tube Town TT-Kit AC18 kit for just 354,29 € and spend the rest of my money to hookers and drugs…”

What do you think in your political correct mind?...

Do you think that I'm pro-prostitution and drug use?...

How about this? I have an AC15C1 and I like it just fine, it works great every time I turn it on. It impresses my friends and annoys the neighbors.

This calculus here was not at all on my mind when I got my masters and said “I need a fukkin Vox AC15 shipped to my house right away!”.
Building something with HT and tubes was just a gleam in my eye.

It is not among the crimes I should be executed for.

It’s neat you can source, build and test an amp so easily, that will please a guy with 800 bucks for a Vox amp.

I wish you your Korg-Vox AC15C1 amp. will stays strong and rocking for the rest of the years, just to impresses your friends and annoys the neighbors.

But beyond that and your good luck, I have to say that today, in contrast to the distant past, there are too many hand-wire p2p amp. kits available, so today there is a relative plurality of options in hand-wire p2p amps kits for everybody to choose for making his “dreamy” Vox-y AC15 or his “dreamy” Vox-y AC30 amplifier…

Let’s say the Weber VST 6V30 Amp Kit was of the pioneers of Vox-y AC30 kit amplifiers back in time and it cost only $1,017.00 U.S.D.

that’s one option I guess but more relevant to the thread, I’m kind of interested in what failures CJ was seeing in a cheaper modern AC15, and what he does to mitigate and repair deficiencies in a “Korg” Vox AC15C1.

Bet you could get a “shoot out” in another thread! 😀

Atleast you realize that.

"Fanny", really?

Becaue I'm french oes not mean I'm Molière or Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
Same, being from Greece doesn't make you Sophocles or Eschyle.

I thought jokes were meant to be funny...

No, it not "just like saying"; it's scornful and condescending. According to TimG's answer, it seems you have hit the nerve.
Do you think that I'm pro-prostitution and drug use?...
No, I'm not making any amalgamation.

Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides were the greatest ancient Greek tragedian poets…

Aristophanes (Ancient Greek: Ἀριστοφάνης, c. 446 – c. 386 BC) -from the other hand…- was an Ancient Greek comic playwright from Athens and a poet of Old Attic Comedy.

Also known as "The Father of Comedy" and "the Prince of Ancient Comedy", Aristophanes has been said to recreate the life of ancient Athens more convincingly than any other author.

And as you can imagine the language in his satirical plays was not at all “political correct” in any terms and his satirical plays may shock you even after all of these 2410 years after his death…

In any way let‘s agree -as oxymoron as it may sound…- that we “agree to disagree” about what is “political correct” or not…

Before we been “lost in the translation” again and “hi-jacked” this thread about what is “political correct” or not, can I suggest as a simple member to mods & admins the creation of an individual chamber about Guitar Amplifiers in the Project Specific Discussions, which will help many DIY-ers out there that like many of us likes to build up their own Guitar Amps and ‘till this time the Guitar Amps DIY-ers doesn’t have their own individual chamber about Guitar Amplifiers to share their info(s), to talk to each-other and to help each-other?...

No need to resort to wikipedia.

This language was probably correct in theatre, because people expect it. Would it have been well received in the streets or in the house, I'm not sure.
Opportunity of behaviour (including language) is situation-dependant.

My beef is not about PC or not, it's about being careful not to hurt feelings. You may speak freely with your friends, here it's different, you are not their pal, you are just a member, as they are.
I find it strange that you don't understand the difference.
