Hi, i've been given couple of Westrex modules out of a film magnetic recorder.

Trying to find some info on them for possible reconfiguration.

I think they're from the late 60's early 70's, solid state with chunky transformers.

Looks similar to the BBC stuff of the same era but with bigger iron.

Model numbers 32725 with different suffix's  a, b, c, d, e, f, h.

I'll take some pic and stick them up here soon.

Westrex was a division of Western Electric.

Who made their transfomers for them?
Maybe someone has a transformer handbook for the 70's ?
Input transformer is marked 32750-G, out is 32750-D.
cheers

So i've been searching and searching but havent found anything apart from these.
Looks like the transformers are suitable for mic amps but i could really do with a schematic.
anyone?

You see Triad iron on the USA Westrex stuff; no idea if they manufactured in UK as well.  They look Triad.  The +12 dBm rating is curious; low for the era.

cheers Doug.
Must be fairly rare i suppose as they were only used in the big film studio's.
These particular ones came from Pinewood.

Just spotted these on the shelf...
friendly schematic bump? :p
Still haven't got round to tracing the circuit out....

Dear mrclunk,

I got a pair of them and I am in the same way like you!....but mines haven't any transformer the own pull out them of the units.

Did you get a schematic or info about?
Thanks
Opacheco.

I've just stumbled across one too - it's in pretty bad shape, but I'll be drawing out the schematic in the next week or so

dominickallen2,
FANTASTIC!!......Please be in contact because some of us need this schematic from years ago...like me!!

Thanks anticipated,
Opacheco.

Great - I'm going to trace mine but it looks like someone else has got in and swapped bits over prior to me. Do yours work? how would you describe the sound ?

u

Please let  me to  know when you had done this !
Thanks
Opacheco

Did anyone ever find (or draw) a schematic for these modules?

I've got one which has been helpfully modified by a previous owner, who removed all of the amplifier circuits (so the only original components are the i/o transformers) and replaced them with an IC opamp circuit built on matrix board. They even rehoused it into a Hammond-style die cast enclosure and duct taped it into the original Westrex subrack, next to the original (now empty) module.

I plan on putting it back in the original module, and I'd like to restore the circuitry to something resembling the original amplifier.
