What would be the expected results of putting a 414 TLII capsule in a 414 EB body?

I have a 414 EB with an all original brass capsule, an EB with a nylon capsule and a 414 TLII.

The nylon capsule EB doesn't do anything for me, but the TLII sounds surprisingly nice. It has a similar tonality to my brass capsule EB, but it's a little more forward sounding in the mids and low mids and not as open sounding as the brass capsule.

Since I have no real use for my nylon capsule EB, I was thinking of putting a TLII capsule in it.

What would the EB circuitry do for the sound of the TLII capsule?

The TL II circuit is transformless and the EB circuits still have a transformer.
What do you hope to achieve? Some saturation.Maybe a darker character in the treble area

For one, I wouldn't mind if it rounded off the peaks a bit. I find that I can drive the brass capsule EB more without overloading the preamp on very dynamic voices. But I don't know how much of that is the nature of the capsule or the electronics.

And from my experiences with the Neumann TLM 193 vs the U89, I find that the U89 doesn't sound as forward as the 193 while also sounding a bit sweeter. Seeing as those mics use the same K89 capsule (as far as I know) I was thinking something similar would happen by swapping the TLII capsule into the EB body.

It's a matter of taste, but I love transformers, I'm old school, I love Neve.
I didn't want to convince you of anything in particular, but personally I think it would sound smoother in the EB circuit, more chiseled, with a little nice magnetic saturation, compression, taming the peaks.✨

Awesome. I'm gonna go ahead with it then. I had Richard Land work on my original brass capsule EB because when I got it it sounded pretty thin and now it sounds luscious. He was telling me that back when AKG was still repairing old 414s, it became their policy to replace bad brass capsules with the TLII capsule instead of the previous iteration. That's what gave me the initial idea.

Well, we are waiting to see beautiful results.
And of course a comparative audio test between microphones 🙂
